Hine, Lewis Wickes
(26 sep. 1874, Oshkosh, Wis., EE.UU.–3 nov. 1940, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.).

Fotógrafo estadounidense. Se formó como sociólogo. En 1904 comenzó a fotografiar inmigrantes en la isla Ellis, en los tugurios donde vivían y las fábricas donde se los explotaba. En 1911 fue contratado por el Comité nacional de trabajo infantil para registrar las condiciones del trabajo de los niños. Viajando por el este, tomó aterradoras imágenes de niños explotados. Durante la primera guerra mundial trabajó como fotógrafo para la Cruz Roja. A su regreso a la ciudad de Nueva York, fotografió la construcción del edificio Empire State. Durante el resto de su vida, tomó fotografías de proyectos gubernamentales.
